Self-Clinching Panel Fasteners - Series CPFC2

The Captive Fastener self clinching panel fasteners are often used in access panels for electronic enclosures and in equipment consoles. The panel fasteners are available in 300 series stainless steel and are passivated to ASTM A967. The self clinching panel fasteners offer a low cost of installation and provide a strong reusable thread in sheets as thin as .060” / 1.53mm thick. For the self clinching spring loaded panel fasteners to be installed properly, the fasteners must be sufficiently harder than the panels into which they will be installed. The stainless steel plungers can be installed into steel or aluminum panels with a maximum hardness of HRB 70.

The self clinching panel fasteners are to be installed into ductile material which allows for the metal into which the fastener is installed, to flow into the clinch profile of the standoff, and provide a permanent reusable thread in the assembly. Since the panel fasteners are captivated in the assembly there is no worry of losing the screws during servicing in the field. Each self clinching panel fastener is installed into the proper size hole in the mating panel and are then pressed into place using a squeezing force.
