Captive Fastener Brand of Self Clinching Low Profile Panel fasteners provide a solution where design engineers want a spring loaded panel fastener assembly to be used in thin panels so that they are easily assembled, and removable in the assembly. The Captive Fastener self clinching panel fasteners are often used in access panels for electronic enclosures and in equipment consoles. The low profile panel fasteners have a slotted head with a deep skirt that allows tool or finger installation and removal. The low profile panel fasteners are available in steel with a bright nickel finish over a copper flash base. The self clinching panel fasteners offer a low cost of installation and provide a strong reusable thread in sheets as thin as .030” / .76 mm thick. For the self clinching low profile spring loaded panel fasteners to be installed properly, the fasteners must be sufficiently harder than the panels into which they will be installed. The panel fasteners can be installed into steel or aluminum panels with a maximum hardness of HRB 60.

The LPH Series of panel fasteners are to be installed into ductile material which allows for the metal into which the fastener is installed, to flow into the clinch profile of the standoff, and provide a permanent reusable thread in the assembly. Since the panel fasteners are captivated in the assembly there is no worry of losing the screws during servicing in the field. Each self clinching panel fastener is installed into the proper size hole in the mating panel and is then pressed into place using a squeezing force.
