REACH
stands for the Regulation for Registration, Evaluation,
Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The
REACH
Regulation entered into force on 1st
June 2007 to streamline and improve the former legislative
framework for chemicals of the European Union (EU). REACH also
creates the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) which has a central
co-ordination and implementation role in the overall process.
ECHA
is located in Helsinki, Finland
and will manage the registration, evaluation, authorisation and
restriction processes for chemical substances to ensure
consistency across the European Union.
All Captive Fasteners current products meet the REACH definition
of an Article. Articles are exempt from REACH unless they
contain any SVHCs (Substance of Very High Concern) exceeding
0.1% by weight. Captive Fasteners is in compliance
with REACH and is not required to withdraw any product because
of registration concerns.
Going forward, all substances, that require registration, will
be pre-registered by our upstream suppliers or us.
Subsequently, all substances that require registration will be
registered in accordance with REACH.
