Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical (REACH)

REACH stands for the Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The REACH Regulation entered into force on 1st June 2007 to streamline and improve the former legislative framework for chemicals of the European Union (EU). REACH also creates the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) which has a central co-ordination and implementation role in the overall process. ECHA is located in Helsinki, Finland and will manage the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction processes for chemical substances to ensure consistency across the European Union.

All Captive Fasteners current products meet the REACH definition of an Article.  Articles are exempt from REACH unless they contain any SVHCs (Substance of Very High Concern) exceeding 0.1% by weight.  Captive Fasteners  is in compliance with REACH and is not required to withdraw any product because of registration concerns.

Going forward, all substances, that require registration, will be pre-registered by our upstream suppliers or us.  Subsequently, all substances that require registration will be registered in accordance with REACH.
